1. Allman Brothers are the best ever American band - IMO.

They were just so brilliant, blues, jazz, rock, they incorporated them all into their own sound with unusual syncopation and the soaring brilliance of Allman's and Betts' guitars. They played in my area often during the early 70's and I was lucky enough to see them a bunch of times before the deaths started. There are lots of their songs I like better than this one, but they have no bad songs. Whipping Post just can't be beat and is my most favorite song ever. I think hearing this for the first time in concert on acid just sealed the deal. I was laughing and crying at the same time, the sound was so beatiful and so totally intense. Don't think I'll ever forget that feeling.
