We always bought organic farm eggs from the grocery store, then got our two hens last July. Lucy and Ethel. Lucy is a Golden Comet and gives us almost an egg a day (she'll skip a day every 10 days or so). With the shortness of the days now with less light, Ethel has eased off on the eggs a tad, but we always have at least a dozen in the fridge. Backyard chickens are wonderful! And you KNOW where the eggs came from and what the chickens have been eating.

I've been fascinated by the replies here, very heavy leaning to adding milk or water. Good to know.
