8. I was a book kid, too - but was usually in the Florida room with the TV on, reading

My parents would be reading, doing crossword puzzles, or whatever, so we kids grew up with the TV as background noise while we did our homework, read, or worked on projects.

That was in the evenings - during the day we were feral creatures, outside running around the undeveloped city park next door, dodging the alligators and cotton mouth moccasins.

I guess that is why Dad was fine with two channels - he only sometimes actually watched something. The non-educational channel was the CBS station and I think Dad liked their nightly news better than NBC or ABC who he thought were too liberal.
