(5,122 posts)18. This song was written and recorded by a local Huntsville entertainer when I was 16.
Bobby Brook's brother Larry managed the Shakey's Pizza on Memorial Parkway in Huntsville, Alabama. Bobby was in a car wreck and as he recuperated, he would come into Shakey's, sit down at the piano, and do impromptu shows to recover his stamina to perform. The clubs named in the song were all real establishments operating in Huntsville when the song was written.

It is one of the best songs from that era. Written by Jimmy Webb, who worked a lot with Glen Campbe
