12. My father's family was like that..

He came from a family of 12, and cliques formed. He had no contact with half of them for over 50 years, and we children never met them or their children. Not that we cared either, to be honest. I think I have or had over 40 cousins, but I couldn't name more than about 10 of them. His last two surviving siblings only met again at his funeral and they hadn't seen each other for at least 30 years I think.

I never heard about any feuds or anything to explain it.
