...It's skin on skin contact. No worse (possibly better) than someone who's just scratched a damp armpit.

First rule of pepper preparation and bog cleaning :- Wash your hands BEFORE you pick your nose. (Or anybody else's)

In other words, simply base where you plan on putting your filthy paws next on where they have recently been. Clean them as appropriate and otherwise enjoy the free healthcare.
