My sister and Mom share the apartment below me, we sahre a two family home. Sis and I share Guardianship of Mom after some rather nasty issues concerning several of our siblings. Some elements of your story sound familiar.

We are all doing the Alzheimer's' Rag in this house, as well as the macular degeneration shuffle.

As the brother, who has a sibling taking care of their mom, Thanks for doing what you do.

If you haven't thought of it or done it, you may want to contact your county office of the aging or some such local entity and find out what programs are out there for the elderly in your area. In NY we have a Nursing Home Deferment Program that assists with the elderly staying in their home when they qualify medically for a nursing home, but their wish is to stay in their own home. This program includes home health aids.

BTW... Mom and sis have had great luck using a tablet/ipad type device. It's easy for Mom to hold and manipulate into her best vision spot and she can get it close enough to read.

I know from my families own current experience, YOU have the hardest job any child can have, caring for an aging parent!
