As someone who was recently out of college in the early 90's and whose employment and income levels at the time were on the lower end of things the blues motifs of "ain't got no job, money, woman" seemed to resonate more with me. It was around that time that every label started releasing box sets of their R&B/Blues material so it was easy to mine that particular genre for records.
