After Only 20 Minutes in Shelter, Cat Breaks Out and Hunts Down His Rescuer

8. Our 5th cat has a cool story.

Our sons both attended Carthage College in Kenosha WI. They were on the soccer team together. Every August, the team takes an out of state trip for about a week to play schools from other part of the country. Fall 2012, the team went to San Antonio. 2 days before they were to return to Kenosha, they found an abandoned tabby kitten about a block from their hotel. He had a hurt foot and could only walk on 3 legs. All the shelters in the area were full, and they were told if they turned the kitten in, he would be put down.


The team decided this was not to be, and passed the hat to buy the little guy a ticket and took him back to Wisconsin. He weighed a pound and 4 ounces when they brought him back which meant he was only about 4 weeks old. He stayed in an off campus house with our older son and 4 teammates until that son finished school. He lives with us now, and is a big beautiful beast who tips the scales at a lean, muscular 14 pounds. He likes arugula and spinach. His name is Winston, and we love him to bits.
