National Great American Pot Pie Day
is observed annually on September 23rd. A baked savory pie typically with both a bottom and a flaky top crust is served often to a hungry bunch. Be it frozen store bought or home-made, it is sure to please those taste buds.
The filling of a pot pie varies from many different ingredients, some of which are beef, chicken, turkey, gravy and seafood. Many vegetables like potatoes, carrots, green beans and peas are also popular choices.

Checkers Day
Checkers Day doesnt have anything to do with the popular board game; rather, it commemorates the famous checkers speech made by Richard M. Nixon in 1952 after he received an adorable Cocker Spaniel as he sought election in 1952.

Restless Legs Awareness Day Restless Legs Awareness Day aims to promote awareness of this medical condition or syndrome. It is held on the same day each year to coincide with the birth date of Professor Karl-Axel Ekborn (born 23rd September 1907, died 1977). This eminent Swedish neurologist first wrote and described the disease in 1945. Since then, a lot has been learned about its symptoms although (to date) there is no known primary cause. It may be associated with dopamine or blood iron levels.

The Autumnal Equinox
is observed annually when the sun can be seen directly overhead along the equator, marking the end of summer and beginning of fall in the Northern Hemisphere.
The autumn equinox is one of two days when all points on Earth except the polar regions see the sun rise and set at due east and due west. With few exceptions, all latitudes see almost exactly 12 hours of daylight and 12 of dark.
