She's this perfect blend of avant-garde intellectual artiste, and folksy Midwestern storyteller. And her backing music is cool too, like if the Talking Heads arranged music by Philip Glass.

If you haven't seen her concert film "Home of the Brave," it's worth watching. The whole thing was on Youtube, last I checked, but it's otherwise hard to find.
