Yes, the old gun-toting good ol' boys can't live forever, but it looks to me like they're being replaced by trigger-happy racists & misogynists who "grew up" (a phrase I use loosely here) trolling the internet & encouraging each other on hate websites. The newest generation of 2nd amendment extremists is like an explosion of frat boy jackasses. If the most sought after demographic in US capitalism is white males ages 14-34, the Texas GOP has turned appealing to 14yo boys into an art form. Yes, we progressives do outnumber Conservatives already. That's what gerrymandering & Voter ID laws are for- keeping the conservative patriarchy in place. We will need more than just time and generational turnover to turn Texas blue. We need our state to be better than just a Democracy In Name Only. We need to reinforce the Voting Rights Act. We need to reinforce Separation of Church & State. We need to wrestle the education of future voters back out of the hands of anti-science fanatics. We need history books that reflect true history instead of whatever happy stories make Americans feel good about themselves. We need Texas politicians to represent the people who live in Texas. We need less guns, border-wars, & sex policing, and more improving the lives of everybody here. And as long as Texas Republicans, including the younger ones (Ted Cruz & his followers aren't going away any time soon) think that all Texas's problems could be solves with Christianity enforced at gun-point, removal of all women's rights, & a border killing field, Texas has a LOOOONG way to go.
