In the past, they were outright coups.

More recently, in the form of (astro-turf) protests and riots - but often by more subtle means, such as the use of right-wing media to stoke financial instability or (if possible) panic.

They definitely have their Faux News and hate radio equivalents - the worst being outlets belonging to the Clarín Group, which used its support of dictatorships in the past to gain a Murdoch-like vise on the country's media landscape.

And like in the U.S., white grievance played a key role throughout.
