2. Well said.

This reminds of how the Tulsa and Haymarket massacres were often referred to as "riots" in history books - implying that both sides shared about equally in the blame.

As to Klein, he was a low-level analyst at the State Dept's Western Hemisphere (i.e. Latin America) office - which begs the question: how did he come to have Top Secret clearance?

My guess is that he was a back-channel between Trump and his pal Macri.

You'll recall that Macri had staked his re-election chances on tarring the opposition, mainly through the "Notebook scandal" - a 2018 fabrication (never subjected to court forensics) on which he is said to have received help from Trump's Ambassador, Ed Prado (Prado resigned the day Biden took office).

It follows then, that someone in the State Dept.'s (right-wing Cuban exile-dominated) Latin America office may have been involved as well - and Klein would've fit the bill perfectly as a back-channel to Macri:

Ambitious, Argentine, and very right-wing authoritarian. A fan of both Macri and Trump.

Of course though, we'll probably never know.
