There's a mass migration out of CA every few years due to storms, earthquakes, fires, or other disasters. Maybe they'll buy up some of the McMansions that have been cheaply furnished to rent out a few times a year., I'm sure the neighbors would appreciate it and the owners who bought them as bad investments in the early 00s will be glad to get out from under.

People who leave CA often don't stay more than a few years, they miss that climate.
