2. Solar is the best thing that could have happened to the natural gas industry...

... for the simple reason the sun isn't always shining.

This has been amply demonstrated in California.

On especially sunny days a large percentage of my electricity is solar.

When the sun's not shining, more often than not, it's natural gas. That depends on the wind.

As I write this 41% of my electric power is solar generated, possibly more than that in my neighborhood. Solar is a big thing here. I can park under solar panels when I'm grocery shopping. The big box stores have solar panels on their roofs. The local schools have solar capacity matching the capacity of their connections to the grid.

As I write this 26% of my electric power is generated in natural gas plants. That will increase as the sun goes down, especially if the wind isn't blowing.

Yeah, it's better than coal, but what isn't?
