...scientific paper.

It's a ready made classic demonstration of my oft stated thesis that one cannot get a degree in journalism if one has passed a college level science course with a grade of C or better.

The full paper is open sourced and can be found here: Acoustically-Induced Water Frustration for Enhanced Hydrogen Evolution Reaction in Neutral Electrolytes (Advanced Energy Materials, Early View, accessed 12/18/22.)

The paper does not demonstrate "boosting" the production of hydrogen by electrolysis. Rather it discusses increasing the rate of hydrogen production, albeit at the expense, represented by the energy consumed for the generation of ultrasound, lowering the thermodynamic efficiency even further.

By the way, zillions of scientific papers are written about replacing platinum in electrolysis. None of them have made the hydrogen fantasy a reality, after piling on decades of bullshit.

Here's one from 1991, 31 years ago: Stucki, S., Kötz, R., Carcer, B. et al. Electrochemical waste water treatment using high overvoltage anodes Part II: Anode performance and applications. J Appl Electrochem 21, 99–104 (1991).

Here's another from 1987: H. Iwahara, H. Uchida, I. Yamasaki, High-temperature steam electrolysis using SrCeO3-based proton conductive solid electrolyte, International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, Volume 12, Issue 2, 1987, Pages 73-77,

If one cannot tell the difference between rate of production and production itself, more over, if one thinks that electrolysis increases electrical output one is just stumbling around insipidly spreading worthless rumors based on misinterpretation. In addition if one thinks that platinum is corrosive, one is completely ignorant of the very basic facts of metallurgy.

The writers at PV Magazine should look for a real job, one as far away from scientific publications as possible. Writing at the scientific equivalent of the National Enquirer is not a worthy career. It only spreads wishful thinking and complacency.
