5. I was basing my response on what I've heard from younger service men and women.

When I served we were issued C-rats. The peaches were palatable (loved that juice!), but the ham and mother-fuckers (lima beans) were considered cause for desertion.
Then again, when one is hungry enough, or has sufficient tabasco sauce, one can eat damned near anything.
