7. Used to cook a Tom Turkey - Lots of meat

Years ago when my kids were young, I'd buy a tom turkey, Don't think they even sell them anymore. They are about twice the size of the ones now sold in the stores and much cheaper than a turkey hen. I'd bake the turkey and make lots of cornbread dressing. I'd save all the good broth and juices from the turkey. After we'd had the big Thanksgiving meal, I'd take all the meat off the turkey bones and put cornbread dressing and turkey in freezer containers, enough to feed 5. I'd spoon some of the turkey broth over it all to keep it moist and put the containers in the freezer for future meals. Usually get 4 or 5 meals off the turkey, plus the day after snacking on the turkey. What a treat for the kids to have turkey and dressing on a dreary January day.
