3. Well if it's a long haired cat, you can brush or comb it frequently to get the loose hairs

Of course that works with short hairs too. Our cats loved petromalt (well, one did; others went along with it) ó sort of a petroleum jelly-like laxative I think. Keeps the barfing down, prevents blockages.

There are foods made to help with hair balls, but I donít know whether they work.

Other advice is to distract your cat from grooming too much by playing with it. (Not the hair ball, the cat!)
