However that doesn't mean that I support ineffective "feel good" laws such as another ban on assault weapons or high capacity magazines.

I prefer efforts to improve our existing laws in ways that will make them more effective, better enforce these laws and impose strong penalties on those who disobey them. I also support efforts to improve our mental health care system.

Much of the gun violence in our nation is a result of drug gangs fighting over turf. We lost our War on Drugs decades ago and should consider the legalization of some drugs and use the taxes generated to treat those who suffer from addiction.
