Surely you would admit that gun rights people use the emotional plea that "the government will take your guns" to drum up support, right?
Similarly, many gun control supporters, the smart ones, use statistics and not just emotion.
Statistics and proper use of data leads to meaningful reform, emotions lead to stupid laws.
Just look at the Patriot Act.
