.... in a deep blue state, makes us either an incredible anomaly, or proof that the whole "fewer gun owners" religious belief is pure BS.

There's only one reason to go through the hoops and background check to get an Illinois FOID, you want to buy a gun in the near future. (Hopefully after taking a basic pistol or CCW class.)

I spent way too long in marketing research, not to realize how easy it is to slant the results of a survey by selective sampling and the text and tone of the questions.

I think the Grabnutz are flailing around trying to find a "crisis" that will get some traction with the general public. They keep trying the same 4 or 5 issues (health crisis, mass shootings, accidents, et. al.) and recycling them with no luck. Now they are trying to convince everyone that; "it's just not socially acceptable to own guns, see how few people own them now?"

Not going to work either.
