... got her wish. Alisa Rosenbaum, or as most know her, Ayn Rand, was a Russian immigrant who screeched about the joys of predatory capitalism at the height of the Cold War. Republicans adored her. Apart from being a third-rate hack writer whose two most well-known doorstop novels were basically the same book, Rand was also a textbook sociopath who abhorred the very concept of altruism, and publicly denounced it at any and every opportunity.

This vile woman's bumper-sticker "philosophy" has been the guiding light for corporatists for more than three generations. It is the root of all the evils perpetrated by filth like Rick Snyder, who gave GM clean water to wash car parts while insisting that the residents of Flint, Michigan continue to drink poisonous water that has inflicted brain damage, and God only knows what other maladies, on virtually everyone in the city. All so corporations and the rich could get tax breaks that strained budgets to the point that this "austerity measure" became necessary in the first place.

Flint is, as others have observed, the horrific model for what the entire nation will become if Republicans are allowed to continue their mindless rampage of unbridled greed and malice.

One Democratic candidate vehemently opposes these people. The other has earned millions in speaking fees from them. Do the math.
