(5,126 posts)He and his wife are friends of the Clinton's. Connie talks about how welcome Hillary made her feel and good advice that she gave her. Sherrod's wife has been very, very pro-Hillary since before the '08 election. Sherrod didn't endorse in '08. His mother was still alive and I asked her which way the Senator was leaning. She only told me that she (Mrs. Brown) was for Obama, Sherrod's brother was for Obama, Sherrod's other brother was for Obama... this was all told to me with the most lady-like Georgian accent. I think the Senator was very much torn between the two.
He is closer to Senator Sanders on many things. He may have simply thought at the time that Hillary had the better resume, fundraising and machine to win. I think Bernie really caught a lot of dem pols by surprise with his success.
One thing to remember about these progressive dems that are endorsing Hillary, they've all fund raised for each other and campaigned together as being members of the dem party.
Sherrod is still a progressive Dem. I'm sure he will very much support Senator Sanders if he wins. However, Hillary has campaigned for him, probably donated toward his campaigns and Sherrod's wife is very emotionally invested in a Hillary presidency.
