(45,319 posts)for acting like 'King George' is a tradition exactly as old as the Presidency. The red baiting lexicon is fresh and new from the late 40's and 50's. Terms like 'comrade' come from Cold War times and have been used against regular citizens as well as those in power. My own mentors include good persons who were greatly burdened by blacklisting and other aspects of the times reflected in that lexicon and words like 'comrade'.
'Princess' is generic royal, Princess of Wales of Monaco, Princess Buttercup, Diana, Liea and Peach are all Princesses, there are many, many Disney Princesses and 'princess dress' or 'princess phone' have specific meanings.
'Comrade' is Soviet specific, a term used only by a nation the US saw as the enemy. Use of 'comrade' in the US is limited to Soviet flavored snark.
The US has a nasty history of Red Baiting in our living memories, our rejection of royalty was absolute and long ago.
Thus 'Princess' = Ally, perhaps spoiled but good and 'Comrade' = Enemy, perhaps congenial but scheming.
Also, Red Baiting and Jew Baiting are very often close traveling companions in the US, so is Red Baiting and Homophobia. See all those 'religious freedom' laws? See all the folks attacking Bernie for being Jewish?
The two words are not in the same class at all. I think I've made my case.
