Clinton's proposal of $12/hour was a trial balloon to see if Republicans would bite. What we should all be pushing for is indexing the minimum wage to the cost of living. Then we'd never need to fight this battle again.

And please don't say -as others have- that starting with a lower number is a sin against the art of negotiation. Republicans in Congress are not rational creatures. You can't treat them as such.
