(15,220 posts)Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know - every Bernie supporter who posts here will say I don't know what I'm talking about. It's their standard response to everything these days. Anyone who disagrees with what they say is just simply too stupid to understand. Well, believe me, I understand.
My issue with Bernie's platform is that he's not JUST going after the uber wealthy, but he's going after people who are middle income. He wants to take my money from me, and then give it back to me in a form that HE believes is appropriate. No, thank you.
It is hard work that has made this country great. No, that's NOT a Republican value - it's an American value. There is nothing wrong with being proud of the fact that you've worked your ass off to provide for your family and that you've made strides for doing that. That does not mean that you "have yours and to hell with everyone else". Like many of us, it means that the more we have, the more we can GIVE to causes that we believe in. Who here has the right to judge what any other does with their hard earned money?
Free tuition? I'm fine with that, but show me how it will be PAID for and show me how those who take advantage of it will give back for having received it? Military service? Community service? How many years of service for each year of free tuition? I mean, we're all about the common good, right? I applaud that. But what are these people going to do to contribute to the common good once they've received this benefit?
