he needs a bit more seasoning, and being a VP might be a great place to get it. He could make the GOP spend money in Texas that they wouldn't otherwise spend, being that TExas is usually a deep red state.

Another good choice would be Sherrod Brown, good progressive background, comes from a swing state.
