Connect the dots: Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren will both be in central Florida this weekend

In the lead up to a running mate rollout that’s been played close to the vest, the pieces can be put together in just about any way one might like. But here’s what we do know: Hillary Clinton is holding an event this Friday afternoon at the Tampa Fairgrounds in Florida. Elizabeth Warren has an already-scheduled speech the next morning at the National Council of La Raza in Orlando, about ninety minutes away. If you like, the dots connect in an unmistakably intriguing way.

In the days since Hillary Clinton’s Friday event in Tampa hit the schedule, even as Politico was reporting that insiders were pointing to a running mate rollout in Florida, questions began to fly as to why she might be using the Sunshine State for the rollout. Perhaps it was because she was choosing someone like Julian Castro or Tom Perez, or a fluent Spanish speaker like Tim Kaine, who might play well with the Hispanic voters in the state. Or maybe she chose Florida simply because it’s such a key swing state and she hadn’t held a major public event there for awhile.

But now that we know Elizabeth Warren was already scheduled to be in Florida on Saturday, it brings forth another possible explanation entirely. If Hillary Clinton is going with Warren as her running mate, it could be that she’s simply traveling to the swing state that Warren is already going to be in at the time.

Warren also called Joe Kennedy and asked him to come speak at the Democratic National Convention. If Warren becomes the running mate, it’s expected that Kennedy would be the leading contender to take over her Senate seat in what would be a near-immediate special election. And now she’s suddenly making an effort to raise his profile.............................
