7. Having just gone through this with my Mom, I agree it could be the beginning of Alzheimers

It was my experience that when the disease started to take hold, it removed the 'filters' and her underlying personality came though with a vengeance. Aspects she was able to moderate came into full focus and it only got worse. Paranoia, flinging accusations, name calling... it is a hideous disease.

She was manageable, for the most part, until about the last 6 months, but then we had to bring in help. At the end, I was the only person she recognized. Everyone else was a stranger. She and we are fortunate that this didn't go on for years.

It wasn't me who noticed it because I was with her so much, call me the frog dropped into the warm water who didn't notice when it started to boil. So his family might be rationalizing away his increasingly bizarre behavior.

Of course, he could just be a full blown narcissist and his sycophants are maniacally feeding the flames.
