2016 Postmortem
In reply to the discussion: Why I have changed my mind [View all]Rilgin
(787 posts)I have pretty much made the same decision. The one problem is that as shown in this thread, the democratic party and many of the individuals will lose the fact that for many of us "there's never been a candidate I wanted to vote for less than Hillary".
I am pretty sure that the democratic party will take the wrong message from a Hillary win with respect to future candidates. I think that Hillary as an ambitious politician is very lucky her opponent is Trump because I think she will pull a lot of Anti-trump votes. If the GOP had put up a sane candidate, I think that candidate would get many anti-Hillary votes. She would pull only the democratic base without that anti trump vote.
With respect to DU and JPR. I have been reading DU for many years (long before I even became a member) and have enjoyed the site. JPR is not a site for me given my choice which is the same as yours.
However, I also am much less interested in DU now as well and very little interest in posting because there is not really good truth going on here with respect to Hillary purely for the political reason that we need to make sure Trump is not president. Some DUers like you I have always enjoyed reading and gotten value from posts but finding fewer of the authors that posted such interesting posts. It feels more like a cheer leading site although for the right side in this singularly unusual election. This to me is not what DU represented in the past.
Anyway, thank you again for a post that I wanted to read here.
