The difference this time though comes down to the Democratic voters who stayed away, and the Democratic voters who crossed over in key states like Michigan because they felt the Democratic Party was not offering the hope that Trump was. Unfortunately that was the perception out there, largely helped by the media but certainly the Campaign and the Democratic Party in general, didn't do enough to counter.

In truth, if you look at the entrails of this election, the Democratic Party isn't that far off from winning next time, however just winning next time, isn't enough. We need a blowout election. The selection of DNC chair is the first step towards that goal, it shouldn't be used just as a career stepping stone, they must get the best person for the job, who can dedicate 100% of their time to the job.
