It has seldom been invoked and in this case would surely be fast tracked to the Supreme Court where it would be struck down 5 to 4. Charging the 47 with treason high or otherwise will only cause more and perhaps mortal damage to the union of the United States. The only plan that is sensible is to recall and defeat them at the polls. If that cannot work then we are in the deepest of trouble.

I hate what the 47 and the repukes have done to our country but I would hate even more the dissolution of "The Great Experiment" that is our nation. There are some here at DU and some freeper types that would relish the complete breakdown of the country and revolution, but history shows that the outcome of revolution is seldom what the proponents desired. Kill the Tzar and be taken over by Lenin then Stalin. Behead Louis and Marie Antoinette and get the reign of terror which lasts until its architect Robespierre falls under the blade.

Somehow we need to follow Benjamin Franklin advice, "We must hang together, gentlemen...else, we shall most assuredly hang separately." I would hope that we can evolve to the level of being able to eliminate internal strife without having an external enemy, but that seems to be ingrained in human nature.
