In reply to the discussion: Let me know how this "harass Black people into voting for Sanders" campaign is working for y'all [View all]artislife
(9,497 posts)Yes, we are getting screwed by the government, by banks and by an elite that doesn't care about our daily lives.
But being told we need to listen better by another group of citizens is in no way equal to their oppression.
Feelings when we hear we are not inclusive< feelings when we hear yet another member of our group has died at the hands of authority.
I don't know why I must put myself out there on this topic, but it could be that I am Latina. I see the white world and I see the minority world. I get a pass because I live in an area that is okay about the rapist, job stealing, drug dealing people. But I also know that I wouldn't be strong enough to be Black all day. Every day, in and out, year after year. Just the relentless amount of racism would do me in. Add on being targeted to die and having people mock it and laugh at it on the internet would be beyond soul crushing.
~~~~~~~~~~~I do not mean on this site. We are not mocking about that.~~~~~~~~~~~
But a lot of the reaction is sad. Very sad.
In 2008 on another site, I was told that there wasn't a place to rank oppression there. It wouldn't be tolerated. This was a white person who said this. It was a pretty white crowd. I thought at the time that they felt unheard and this was their space. It was kind of like being in a wheel chair and there being only stairs and the management saying it wasn't easy for them to get up the stairs either, so don't feel it is just difficult for you.
I should stop reading and commenting on the OPs like this. It is harshing my Bern.
I will vote for him and campaign hard. He is great in my book.
