That description is just so fucking condescending, and off putting, and derogatory and not fitting.
Essentially divisive.
What I heard was Bernie Sanders explaining his sense of morality and his sense of what government should be doing for the country, and couching this explanation in a common vocabulary. In this case a religious vocabulary determined by the venue, but also a profound vocabulary.
What he said has nothing to do with putting people in their place, "teaching them about their own values", as if they were ignorant.
