(62,325 posts)because on almost all of the issues, and for his entire political career, he as been right on the issues that Dems care about.
Before he announced he would run, I was supporting O'Malley who I think is also a good candidate.
I had thought we were not going to have any choices so was glad when O'Malley entered the race.
Chafee also interested me, mainly because he had opposed the Iraq War, a big issue for me because it says a lot to me about a candidate where they stood on the war.
But Bernie to me is a rare politician. Not just because of his record of votes, which is excellent, but because he is running without Corp money, another huge issue. He doesn't just say he opposes Citizens United, he is refusing to avail himself of it, showing enormous integrity imo.
Hillary is too much of a War Hawk for me, her Iraq War Vote, her support for the awful Welfare Reform Bill, for DOMA, her late 'evolvement' on marriage equality, her support for the TPP and refusal to tell us where she stands on the Keystone Pipeline until 'after the election', her close ties to Wall St, all these things imo, show a lack of judgement and foresight so necessary in a leader.
Webb is too right leaning for me so haven't even considered him.
Biden, well, he's very likeable, but even he has told us recently that the 'money in politics' must be the 'most important issue in this campaign' because he said 'until we get rid of it, nothing else can be done'. He's always sounded good on issues, but I've been disappointed by some of his votes.
He did tell some people recently at an event to 'Vote for Bernie, he's a good man'. I think Biden wanted to do the right thing, but as he said 'don't even trust me even if you like me, re the money in politics'. He said big donors expect something in return.
I presume you can guess my opinion on all of the Repubs lol.
Hope all is well with you too, gately.
