when both Bernie and Clinton were elected. Democrats (not DUers, this much is apparent) were actually the only political officials who took necessary action, provided funding, organization and focus.

Everyone's all crazy about Bob Barr's DOMA this week, which was 1996. '96 was also the year in which AIDS deaths decreased by 23% after years of constant increases, available treatments and prevention methods started really kicking in. Reagan utterly ignored AIDS for 7 years, Bush did as little as possible for his 4. Democrats were not the problem.
