8. I, personally, never like to say something will turn out ok

Out loud or even to myself. I feel like it kind of puts the hex on things. So I always make sure to worry a lot (not just about elections--about everything!), and think its likely things will turn out badly. Then they usually turn out great. And one can feel all the happier for the angst one has properly lived through.

This is just my own admittedly backwards and superstitious psychology. But honestly, I apply it from everything to thinking the cake is going to collapse in the oven (it came out beautifully!) to they won't have the particular knife I want to buy at the store (they did!), to ... elections!

Think negatively and it has to turn out better than you thought!
