changing your status to democrat (which I did -I had never before declared for either party), and showing up to sign your name (which I did) - and then I stayed late to count signatures because I had been named co-precinct chair (by the actual precinct chair who wanted some help).

It was a great experience and I encourage you to get involved locally (hey, I even went door to door for Obama here in TX!)
