(58,785 posts)of you to note the extreme similarity of behaviors, if not candidates.
In 2008 a radical, rabble-rousing "Party Unity My Ass" faction (their official name "People United Means Action" quickly morphed to fit their actions) passionately rallied to use Hillary to defeat Obama; that time they angrily accused the evil Democrats of "rigging" the election for Obama, and many promised to vote for McCain.
In 2016 they passionately rallied to Sanders, angrily attacked the evil DNC and dozens of Democratic state parties for rigging the election (to be fair Sanders told them dozens of times it was happening), called for Hillary to be thrown in prison, and many promised to vote Trump or third party.
Same thing back with Nader v Gore, and so on back. Behaviors are very identifying. Go where they congregate to speak freely, and the same kind of people behaving totally predictably.
The difference between 2008 and 2016 was the behaviors of the candidates, not these packs. Hillary very strongly supported Obama, while Sanders' very different behavior toward her and the Democratic Party was...identifying. He denounced his membership immediately, of course.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
