GOP Pushing for Spending and Tax Cuts

WASHINGTON - Republican leaders in Congress are hoping to complete a bill to curb the growth of student loans, Medicaid and other benefit programs before Christmas, though they may delay extending tax cuts until next year.

Staff aides and lobbyists are skeptical about the prospects of finishing work in the next few weeks on five-year spending cuts of up to $50 billion.

But failure to deliver would disappoint GOP loyalists eager to see their party burnish its budget-cutting credentials, and would push the contentious issue into January or February, muddying the agenda for 2006.

The House returns for a scheduled two-week session on Tuesday; senators do not come back until next week.

1. Let them start with a huge pay and benefit cut for themselves.

Since most of them are rich anyway, and rake in ill gotten gains from poorly concealed bribes (otherwise known as "campaign contributions" to buy votes), do they really need to be supported by the American taxpayer?

We should bury them in mail, telling them to cut their own drain on the taxpayer first, before they kill more Americans with their stupidity.

Concern for seniors was not involved. That's why the plan they implemented doesn't actually work (as seniors can attest).

14. rationing Medicaid benefits and raising taxes on private coverage

This Congress doesn't just want to screw the disabled and uninsured, now it wants to screw companies who do the right thing by insuring their workers! Bush plans to raise taxes on employees covered by policies that provide more than $11,500 dollars in family coverage.

Bush argues that this will reduce "any incentive" to buy medicine and drugs by raising taxes on workers who have better coverage. So the more we allow an insurance company to take our money without providing coverage in return, the less we'll be penalized by the IRS..wow even if we can't declare backruptcy because of a medical debt. The more coverage an insurance company provides in return for our premiums, the harder Bush will hit us with this new tax! Never mind that Republicans promised to oppose government rationed healthcare, promote family values, and lower our taxes :puke:

15. Let them eat rice cakes!

and make sure the bill grows with interest and is handed to their children and grandchildren! And convince them that rice cakes in place of any medical care, ability to pay for college through loans, and in place of being able to heat the house at night - is a GOOD thing - what God wants... vote GOP! :eyes:

17. I hope they get their tax cuts. I really do.

The more tax cuts they can heap upon their fabulously wealthy selves, the better it will be to justify a return to the Truman era, when the privateers and dodgers were penalized for their profiteering in time of war. Here, have a taste of things to come:
