AJ. U.S. dismisses Iran security guarantees callThe U.S. State Department dismissed a call by the UN nuclear watchdog chief to give Iran security guarantees to ease the tensions over its NUCLEAR PROGRAM, The Associated Press news agency reported.
State Department spokesman Adam Ereli said that Tehran must first act like a responsible member of the international community and stop breaching its agreements.
Ereli's comments came after Mohammad ElBaradei, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) called on the U.S. to give Iran a security guarantee to persuade Tehran to limit its nuclear activities.
The United States has offered written security assurances to North Korea in similar talks over its nuclear program.
