I knew and worked with her husband Carl. He was one of my favorites from back then, even though my family hated him.

Anne Braden, a prominent Louisville civil rights activist, died early Monday morning at Jewish Hospital. She was 81.
Braden had been admitted over the weekend and was diagnosed with pneumonia and dehydration, said Catherine Fosl, Braden’s biographer.
“This was a very important life, and this is a major blow,” Fosl said.??She died shortly after 5 a.m., said Fosl, who didn’t know the exact cause of death. Hospital officials did not return calls early Monday.

I remember distinctly when Anne and Carl bought a house for a black couple in our town, Shively Ky. I also remember that some jerk threw some dynamite into their baby's bedroom. I have long thought it was someone from the fire fire department. That was where the KKK met. The fire department shared the building with the police force.
Carl was a great guy, too bad I never got to meet Anne.
