KAMPALA – About 30 lawmakers yesterday walked out of Parliament to protest the war in northern Uganda.
The MPs from Lango sub-region led the way. They walked out soon after Dr Okulo Epak (Oyam South) read out a grim interim report on the humanitarian and security situation in Lango. Epak is the chairman of the Lango Parliamentary Group.
MPs from Teso and Acholi followed shortly after. The Deputy Speaker, Ms Rebecca Kadaga, was presiding.
In all, 34 MPs walked out - vowing not to return to Parliament until something is done to improve the security situation in Acholi, Lango and Teso sub-regions.
