White House insiders: Gonzales hurt himself before panel
POSTED: 9:39 a.m. EDT, April 20, 2007

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- White House insiders tell CNN that Attorney General Alberto Gonzales hurt himself during testimony before a Senate committee Thursday on the firing of eight U.S. attorneys.

The sources, involved in administration discussions about Gonzales, told White House correspondent Suzanne Malveaux that two senior level White House aides who heard the testimony described Gonzales as "going down in flames," "not doing himself any favors," and "predictable."

"Everyone's putting their best public face on," one source said, "but everyone is discouraged. Everyone is disappointed."

But these sources acknowledge that no one knows what the president will do. No one is looking for a replacement yet, sources said, and the White House is waiting to see how this plays out with the public and members of Congress over the next couple of days.

Another White House insider said it's up to the President to save him.

1. Don't you "get it"?
gonzo isn't a goner.....

Not as long as Bush supports him.

And Bush WILL CONTINUE to support him because there isn't any political price to pay for supporting him.

Dubya values Loyalty above all else. And Gonzo didn't trash Bush, Rove or Cheney or anybody else in the Whitehouse in his pathetic performance yesterday....hence...that's LOYALTY. And Bush will repay it by sticking with him.

Get it?

What were they expecting, miracles? An epidemic of instant Alzheimers? The Rapture to rescue their buttS?

Inquiring minds want to know!

4. Can't Gonzales be impeached?
I thought he could, but I'm not up on the impeachment part of the Constitution.

Would you waste it on Abu? Better to keep him and hammer the Republicans with their lawless, dishonorable administration. I'm waiting for the Republicans to drag him out of bed and lynch him.

8. I've successfully raised 3 boys, but how do you raise a president? He's just an obstinate brat.
All of us who have raised kids can see the 'president' is just a child who has never been disciplined, thumbs his nose at everyone, throws temper tantrums and was probably a horror to toilet train. He's everything....passive-aggressive, narcisstic....you name it.

Babs was a miserable failure as a mother. Her son is a miserable failure who cannot be called an adult in any sense of the term.

It's left to us to raise him, but where do you start?

10. It always amazes me when they
are forced to trot out these Sycophantic, lying, incompetent idiots in front of the public.
I'm sure if they had their way, these Structural Support people would never show their face in public.
Because they are all exactly the same: dense, complete tools for Bush & Cheney, no ethics whatsoever, lacking any kind of personality, bland, almost like their personalities have been sandpapered off.

How many haven't we seen already?

A TON OF 'EM. And they're all exactly the same.

or successfully continue to misrepresent truths to some very smart people who are calling him out on those same misrepresentations.

What could Gonzo say? "All those people who concurred in their testimonies in direct contradiction to my own testimony are liars... and evidently conspirators? Why they probably don't even believe Arlens' explanation of the Dallas "magic bullet"!

On reflection, he probably seemed amused by his very public interrogation, because if he didn't he'd break down in tears. When ye sup wi the divil...

16. Personally, I hope Chimpy digs his heels in as long as possible
...the more stubbornly he holds onto his crony, the stupider and more like his childish self he looks. Politically, Dim Son's obstinence is great for our side.

Gonzo is a total LIE-ability for the Bush administration. If they're too fuckin idiotic to see it, people are gonna see 'em as idiots. Also, think of this: If keeping Gonzo is their best solution, then they must be hiding something really treasonous. KKKarl Rove must be protected at all costs! And the rest of the country is finally beginning to figure that out.

17. How much you want to bet that Gonzales, Rove and Paula Hughes
were all involved in destroying bushwad's National Guard records? Gonzales probably was responsible for getting bushwad a new drivers license in an attempt to hide his past.
