Solomons PM flees capital Kemakeza's state has been ruined by years of civil war
The prime minister of the troubled South West Pacific state of Solomon Islands has fled the capital.
Allan Kemakeza left Honiara on a navy patrol boat on Tuesday night apparently amid fears he would be kidnapped.
An Australian-led peacekeeping force is due to arrive in the islands on Thursday in a bid to put an end to years of ethnic unrest which have paralysed the tiny state.
A spokeswoman for the peacekeepers, Katie Graham, told AFP news agency that he was being kept at a "location that is confidential".
