MEXICO CITY, Jan. 1 — A strong earthquake rocked Mexico City on Thursday, but no major damage or injuries were immediately reported.

The quake's exact magnitude and center were not immediately known.

Mexico City, Dead Sea, Bali, town in CA.

I heard a scientific type talking soon after the CA quake and he said what he found most significant was how deep that one was. He said (basically), "The entire planet just shook. We'll have to wait to see the fall-out of that."

The one in Iran was also the same magnitude as the one in California.

5. I called family in Mexico City

I suspect it was around 6.0, but the Mexican press is reporting no damage... and no injuries beyond those who fained from fear

Oh and Angel thanks, from what I was told by family, I knwo the so called lousy buiding standards, now if there was any damage, from that map, I am guessing Acapulco and Zihuatanejo
