W. House sets attack dogs on Kerry as disappearing Dean leaves field clear

For six of the seven Democratic hopefuls vying for the nomination to take on George Bush in November there is only one game in town: trying to stop the seventh - John Kerry.

Having been earlier written off as too distant and elitist, and overwhelmed by the surge of support for the former Vermont governor Howard Dean, Mr Kerry is now riding atop a steamroller in the run-up to Tuesday's seven crucial primaries. It is a fair bet that the contest to find a presidential candidate will be over by the end of the week.

With Mr Kerry having won convincing victories in Iowa and New Hampshire, polls released on Friday suggest he now leads the race in Arizona, Missouri and North Dakota. He is in a statistical tie for first place with Senator John Edwards in South Carolina, while he is running a competitive second to retired General Wesley Clark in Oklahoma. Mr Dean may be ahead in New Mexico, but his campaign is flagging and running out of funds, and while Senator Joe Lieberman is expected to win Delaware, the state has only a handful of delegates.

Mr Kerry's trick, it seems, is to present himself as the man with the best chance of beating Mr Bush in what will be a bitterly fought contest. "I saw some of the debate last night and I think John Kerry is the strongest candidate," said Claudia Philips, an insurance executive, as she made her way to work in Columbia, South Carolina's capital, on Friday morning. "I think it is because of his experience. I heard him speak in an earlier debate and he said you had to have experience in Washington if you are going to win."

I have it on the authority of many, many Kerry supporters that defending candidates is only the job for supporters of those candidates. So why should I care?

Divide and conquer, works every time. The corporate controlled media is picking them off one at a time and stupid democrats boast because their candidate may not be the one on the line at the time . Stupid democrats allow the corporate controlled media dictate who will run and lose to the bush team. As long as democrats continue to be led by the corporate controlled media, they and America's future is doomed. Stupid democrats laughed at Dean when the 2 week media onslaught was able to bring him down, now it is Kerry's turn, next it will be another - all except the bush team which helps the corporate controlled media gain more control - it's a never ending cycle. Unfortunately, nothing has changed for Kerry, he is still the same person most democrats did not want prior to Iowa, only the media has him propped up, ready to fall at any given time, meanwhile, democrats run around crying unfair, unfair...

I really had hope for the democrats, I didn't really want Dean but at least he had democrats fighting for America, now even he has been reduced to a whimpering Al Gore wannabee trying to appease the media, something that can not be done by any democratic candidate. Look for Joe Lieberman to win, as he is the candidate most like the bush in the white house, and the media will love him, knowing he will do more for the elite media owners. Likewise they will bring out Nader or a Nader knockoff again and many will vote against the democratic candidate, divide and conquer. Ironic, the bush team is being exposed, everyone in America is finally seeing the truth, yet democrats sun for cover, afraid to offend the elite media.

16. I have found it so depressing...

that at a time when democrats and democratic canidates need to be united they just turn on each other with the corporate media assistance. If all the canidates had just put forth the policies and characteristics that they feel would make them a better president than Bush and left all the other canidates alone it would have been much better. But they actually want the nomination more than having Bush and his cronies out of office. They typically put themselves above what is best. All of them should be campaigning against Bush not each other. You do what is best for the country not what is best for your own personal interests.

When the media comes to them with a so-and-so said this, they should have just ignored it saying I can't control what other people say, but here is what I am about and then explain what their policies and behavior will be. Even better, if they would state that every other canidate would make a fine president, but I think I would be best qualified for the job and this is why. I will leave it up to the voters to decide and if I don't get the nomination I will throw all my support behind the one who does.

to help despin the Puke attacks on Kerry. After seeing so many people who claim to be Democrats revel in the "Al Gore invented the internet" type attacks on Dean and CLark I will be a spectator this time around. I am sure the Kerry supporters can solve this problem they helped to create.

After the February 3rd Primaries, less than 10% of the total delegates will be chosen. The Big Democratic states begin with Wisconsin on the 13th, followed by Super Tuesday, March 2nd. And those states are where Dean is focusing his resources. Those states --not the Feb 3rd states--are where the nominee will be determined.

If you want fish & chip wrapping paper then wait till you get your ands on the Murdoch owned Times or worse still, a tabloid such as the Sun or the Mirror.

UK Independent and to a lesser extent Guardian are the two papers who are being most supportive of the Dem candidates. Compare that the any Times or even Economist article on the matter which spin furiously on behalf of Bush.
