Ala. Chemical Weapons Furnace Shut Down (Sarin Alert)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Army shut down its Alabama chemical weapons incinerator after an alarm indicated a possible leak of a small amount of deadly sarin nerve agent inside a main building.

No one was injured, and the Army said Thursday there was no threat to the surrounding community in Anniston. It was unclear when operations would resume.

2. Actually for those of us living near this incinerator..it's very Real.

I'm glad I don't live down wind of it. These people would never admit to a leak into the atmosphere. The Army has been dumping toxic shit in the water near Anniston for 30 years...just now admitting it and cleaning up some of it.

It's no distraction.
